"Manjericão" is called basil in English, there are various types of basil, which differ in flavour and aroma. The common basil (or basil alfavaca) is one of the easiest types to find in Brazil. It is widely used in the kitchen as a great companion for tomatoes. As heat diminishes its aroma, it is best added at the end of the recipe or only at serving time.
